Family Engagement & Attendance
At Berrien Springs Public Schools, we believe that strong partnerships with families are essential to student success. One of the ways we work to stay connected is through our attendance communication system, which allows us to send text messages, emails, and other important updates directly to families.
Our goal is not only to communicate when concerns arise, but also to celebrate success. Throughout the school year, families may receive positive messages recognizing great attendance, student accomplishments, or other important milestones. Families may also receive attendance notifications and letters that help keep them informed about their child's attendance patterns and any support that may be needed.
Reducing chronic absenteeism is a district goal because we know that every day of learning matters. Missing just two days per month can add up quickly and impact a student's academic progress, sense of belonging, and connection to school. Every absence matters.
When attendance challenges arise, our focus is on partnership and support. We understand that families face many different circumstances, and our team is committed to working alongside parents and guardians to identify barriers, connect families with resources, and help students attend school regularly.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Together, we can make every day count
