Instructor/ Owner: Alison Grosse is an accomplished rider and trainer.  She has earned National, Regional, and Local awards.  She instructs riders of all ages and abilities with impressive results, including National Championship titles.  Students are nurtured to learn and progress at their individual abilities.  Alison owns and manages Spring Creek Equestrian Center which houses about 25 horses and is a busy, fun barn for families.


Horses for Kids Intro

Day/Time: Tuesdays, 1 - 3 PM  
Dates: Beginning January 7th through February 25th. No class February 4th. 
Ages: 5-7  

During this class the students will be working hands on with the horses. Students will learn the basics in horse care, how to groom and prepare a horse for riding, daily equine requirements.

***Though not provided by the Partnership, a riding component is available for a nominal fee.***

Horses for Kids Intro Syllabus


Equine from Head to Hoof

Day/Time: Tuesdays, contact to schedule, schedule times vary.
Dates: Beginning January 7th through March11th. No class February 4th. 
Ages: all

During this class the students will be working towards hands on instruction and time with the horses.  Students will learn the basics in horse care, equipment care and use, how to groom and prepare a horse for riding, barn and horse safety, and barn and horse maintenance.

***Spaces are limited and must have horse experience***

Dates: Beginning January 8th through March 12th. No class February 4th.

During this class the students will be working towards hands on instruction and time with the horses.  Students will learn the basics in horse care, equipment care and use, how to groom and prepare a horse for riding, barn and horse safety, and barn and horse maintenance.

Required Materials for all classes:

  • Some kind of boot with a slight heel (riding or hiking boots).
  • Jeans

Optional Materials (provided by student/family):
A helmet for use near horses in the stalls.

**The courses offered do not include a riding component. The course covered by the partnership is lecture/stable time only.  The riding component may be purchased, for a nominal fee, by contacting Alison directly. 

*Please note: it is important to make as informed a decision as possible when choosing your student's Community Resource classes. Most locations will allow a student to drop a class after one meeting, at no charge if it wasn't a good fit for the student, but not all. Some classes plan ahead based on the number that have signed up and have purchased materials, hired teachers, etc. and there might be a fee for class time or materials given to the student if the student drops after one or two meetings. The school cannot pay for classes that students do not complete, so choose wisely; if you do not take the class off of your student's schedule by the deadline, you may be asked to pay for the class time incurred prior to dropping the class.
