Start Date: Classes must begin before the end of September.
Fall Recital: Beginning or middle of December.
Spring Recital: Beginning of May.
Course Description: My Violin Group Class is designed to go along with private lessons and build a whole new skill set of playing with others. From my teaching experience I strongly believe that playing in the group benefits young musicians in many different ways…that’s why children learning an instrument should be introduced to playing with others at the earliest possible opportunity.
Playing in the group is one of the greatest joys of playing an instrument, it develops essential skills such as teamwork, listening, sight reading, discipline, and also helps to overcome the fear of performance, especially for beginners.
In my class students learn in a purely positive, joyful and a non- competitive atmosphere with the right guidance of the teacher. Either it’s a small group of a homogeneous group of players roughly at the same level or a mixed level group of students, the process of learning is very rewarding and beneficial for every student.
*Please note: it is important to make as informed a decision as possible when choosing your student's Community Resource classes. Most locations will allow a student to drop a class after one meeting, at no charge if it wasn't a good fit for the student, but not all. Some classes plan ahead based on the number that have signed up and have purchased materials, hired teachers, etc. and there might be a fee for class time or materials given to the student if the student drops after one or two meetings. The school cannot pay for classes that students do not complete, so choose wisely; if you do not take the class off of your student's schedule by the deadline, you may be asked to pay for the class time incurred prior to dropping the class.
