Berrien Springs Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Ted Zahrt has been named the One Berrien Award recipient for January. This award recognizes staff members who consistently go above and beyond to support our students, schools, and community.

Mr. Zahrt, a 7th Grade Social Studies teacher at Berrien Springs Middle School, engages students with lessons that spark a love for learning. His calm demeanor, combined with his passion for history, creates a welcoming and supportive classroom where students feel valued.

Middle School Art teacher Mr. Mohney shared, “Ted creates an environment where students are not just learning history—they are experiencing it. His ability to make lessons engaging and meaningful is incredible. He builds strong relationships with his students, ensuring they feel supported both academically and personally. His calm presence, paired with a clear passion for teaching, fosters a classroom where students are eager to participate and grow. Observing his class, it’s evident how much effort he puts into making history come alive.”

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Zahrt encourages school spirit by organizing events that build camaraderie among students and staff. From hosting "Minute to Win It" games that energize students to coordinating activities that bring colleagues together, his contributions extend far beyond teaching. His enthusiasm, commitment, and ability to strengthen relationships make him an integral part of our school community.

Congratulations, Mr. Ted Zahrt! Thank you for your dedication and for going above and beyond for Berrien Springs Middle School and Berrien Springs Public Schools!
