BSPS Announces the One Berrien Award Recipient for May and June

Mrs. Carrie VanDenburgh
Berrien Springs Public Schools is proud to recognize Mrs. Carrie VanDenburgh as this month’s One Berrien Award recipient. This award honors staff members who go above and beyond to support our students, schools, and community.
Mrs. VanDenburgh is the Choir Director at Berrien Springs High School. She creates a classroom environment where students feel safe, seen, and supported. Mrs. VanDenburgh builds strong relationships and genuinely cares for each student. Her students know she values them deeply and believes in them as individuals. As one student shared, “She reminds us constantly that we are precious and that we matter.”
Her classroom is a space where students are encouraged to take risks, step outside their comfort zones, and believe in themselves. From celebrating victories to motivating students to try a solo on stage, she empowers every student to find their voice. Her strong sense of integrity and compassion ensures that kindness is the standard and that every student feels respected and valued.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. VanDenburgh plays an essential role in enriching the arts in Berrien Springs. Through musicals, concerts, and countless events, she has uplifted both our students and our community. Her selfless dedication, often spending personal time and resources to make productions possible, reflects her belief in her students' potential and in the power of the arts.
Mrs. VanDenburgh, thank you for going above and beyond, for creating a culture of care, and for championing student success every step of the way at Berrien Springs High School and Berrien Springs Public Schools. You exemplify the Shamrock Way and what it means to be One Berrien.
Congratulations, Mrs. VanDenburgh!
