Berrien Springs, MI:  Berrien Springs Public Schools is excited to announce that Berrien Springs Middle School and Sylvester Elementary have been recognized as top-performing schools in Michigan by U.S. News & World Report. This recognition highlights the district's commitment to creating an environment of academic excellence.

The U.S. News & World Report award evaluation process measures students' proficiency in mathematics and reading through state assessment tests and considers how these results align with the socioeconomic demographics of the student population. This recognition reflects the dedication of Berrien Springs Middle School and Sylvester Elementary to ensure all students succeed regardless of their background.

Berrien Springs Middle School and Sylvester Elementary have prioritized innovative practices in classrooms and through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Instructional teams at both schools collaborate regularly in PLCs to analyze student data, share best practices, and develop targeted interventions to address individual student needs. Strategies such as differentiated instruction, project-based learning, Kagan learning structures, and integrating technology into the curriculum help keep students engaged and supported in their education. These efforts have driven academic growth and contributed to both schools achieving this well-deserved recognition.  Please note that Berrien Springs Middle School received this honor last year in 2023-2024.
