National recognition celebrates public high schools that prepare students to enroll and succeed in college
Berrien Springs Public Schools is excited to announce that Berrien Springs High School has received a College Success Award from GreatSchools, the nation’s leading nonprofit providing school information to parents and families. The annual recognition honors schools that excel at preparing students to enroll and succeed in college, as determined by available data in each state.
Berrien Springs High School is among 1,436 high schools in 19 states that have demonstrated a successful track record of graduating students who enroll in two- or four-year college, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist on to their second year. Last school year, Berrien Springs High School graduated 120 students with 87 percent enrolling in a two year or four year post secondary program. This recognition highlights Michigan's leadership in collecting and transparently sharing post-high school student performance data which is a valuable resource for families, educators, and policymakers. This year, 182 schools in Michigan earned this honor.
Berrien Springs High School consistently implements best practices to support students in their college preparation and success, including:
- Berrien Springs High School works with all seniors to apply to a post secondary program starting in October of each school year. The counselors work with students on their plans for after high school, college applications, and FAFSA application information by hosting events to help parents and students apply for aid. Additionally, they share information about available scholarships.
- Dual enrollment classes offer significant benefits to our students. At Berrien Springs High School, students can take college courses while still in high school. This experience exposes them to college-level material and the college environment.
Congratulations to Berrien Springs High School! We celebrate this recognition as a reflection of the collective efforts of our students, staff, and families.
